Ann DeWolfe McLaughry91, of Hanover, NH and formerly of Milton, MA died peacefully at home on Thursday, May 9, 2013. Born in Boston, daughter of Howard and Anna C. Soule, Ann is a direct Mayflower descendant.
She is survived by her dearly loved husband of 40 years Robert D. McLaughry; loving mother of Richard DeWolfe and his wife Marcy of Westwood, MA, Patricia Griffin Chartrand and her husband Richard of Milton, MA, Howard L. DeWolfe & his wife Sylvie of Deerfield Beach, FL, and preceded in death by her daughter Paula Soule Bucklin; she leaves six grandchildren and six great grand children and nine nieces and nephews. Her beloved extended family includes her husband Robert's children by his deceased first wife, Joan; Bruce McLaughry and wife Susan of Norwich, VT, Bill McLaughry and wife Nicole Noyes of New York City, Rob McLaughry and former wife Sue of Norwich, VT, Lynda Burt and her husband Nathan of Middlebury, VT and nine grandchildren.
A former Powers model, Ann became a woman pioneer in the real estate industry starting her own real estate company, A. L. DeWolfe & Co. in 1949 in the Boston area. Her remarkable contribution to the real estate industry includes her election as the first woman President of the Brokers Institute of the Greater Boston Real Estate Board and Realtor of the Year in 1973. Not only was she an astute businesswoman but a mentor to others helping them achieve success in their careers. She was empathetic and kind, quietly doing much for many during her life. Her personal generosity enabled many to purchase their first home in the 50's & 60's. Her real estate career continued in Hanover, New Hampshire, working together with her husband Bob they formed McLaughry Associates, Inc. Ann was a Founding Director and Secretary of the Ledyard National Bank of New Hampshire 1991-2001.
Ann and her husband Bob loved to travel with friends and family on trips that took them all over the world. Golf was not so much of a sport they enjoyed, as they didn't keep score, but a way to go for a good walk. Known for supporting Dartmouth football, home tailgate parties were attended by many fans and friends. Partners in business and in life they were inseparable and could be seen walking with each other, hand in hand, all over town.
Viewing hours will be 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 12, 2013 at the Rand-Wilson Funeral Home on School Street in Hanover, New Hampshire. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 13, 2013 at 10:30am at St. Denis Church, 8 Sanborn Road, Hanover, NH. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
