Deborah Moore
Williams
March 17, 2019
Deborah Moore Williams70, passed away peacefully at her home in Norwich, VT with her family by her side on Sunday March 17, 2019.
Born September 11, 1948, the eldest of five, she was the daughter of William Parker Moore and Mildred Parry Moore of Sharon, MA, where she spent her childhood.
She was married in 1971 to Andrew Wilson Williams of Amesbury, MA. Andy and Deb raised their three children in Barre (MA), Temple (NH), and for the last 30 years in Norwich (VT).
Andy and Deb worked for the Aloha Foundation's Hulbert Outdoor Center and then Ohana Family Camp from 1988 to 2012.
Deb was at heart a dedicated naturalist with a great curiosity for the world around her. She was always interested in preserving natural places and knowing the people who lived there. She worked tirelessly on one of her proudest achievements, the protection of Washburn Island and South Cape Beach on Cape Cod, one of the special places of her childhood. She was instrumental in the preservation of this area that eventually became the Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve.
She shared a quiet faith. Her family was her love, especially her seven grandchildren, all born after her diagnosis of cancer. She is survived by her husband, Andrew; her mother, Mildred Moore of Berkley, MA; four brothers, William, Richard, Thomas, and Douglas, three children, Tressa (Nikolas Jones), Lindsey (Eric Ackerson), Justin (Jessica Williams), seven grandchildren; and nine nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, William Moore.
Deb and her family wish to thank Dr. Gregory Ripple, Dr. Amelia Cullinan and the entire team at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Steve Gordon and his team at Hands to Heart; and the caring Bayada hospice team, who helped and comforted during the end of her journey.
A Celebration of Deb's life will be held in late spring. Further details will be forthcoming.
Donations in Deb's memory can be made to: Citizens for The Protection of Waquoit Bay, Norris Cotton Cancer Center, Hands to Heart, or an environmental organization of your choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Rand-Wilson Funeral Home of Hanover, NH.
