Dorothy Louise
Sanders Corson
January 7, 2012
Dorothy Louise Sanders Corson94, died Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Grafton County Nursing Home in the company of daughter, Susan and son-in-law, Richard.
Born August 20, 1917 in Rochester, New Hampshire, she was the daughter of Harold and Lucia (Greenfield) Sanders. She attended schools in Rochester and it was there Dot met and married her husband of 64 years, Philip W. Corson. Prior to the birth of their children, she was a telephone operator for AT&T and later worked for Sears in the Telephone Orders department.
She had many hobbies and interests. Dot was a member of the Rochester Historical Society and was a den mother for her son's Cub Scout troop in the mid 1950's. She raised African Violets, was interested in genealogy, stamp collecting, sewing, (particularly costumes for dance recitals), collecting family heirlooms and other antiques, and playing the organ. She and her husband enjoyed square dancing, playing cards (especially cribbage) and board games with the family. Camping and family gatherings were always a source of pleasure. Dottie was an avid swimmer and thoroughly enjoyed listening to music. She could always be counted on for an imaginative and entertaining comment.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Phil, in 2002 and her brother, Ralph Sanders, in 1986. She is survived by her three children, Diane Corson Mudgett and husband, Peter, of Westford, MA, Robert Corson and wife, Maura, of Ottawa, Canada, and Susan Corson Showalter and husband, Richard, of Newbury, VT, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one nephew.
The gentle, attentive care she received while at Grafton County Nursing Home is much appreciated.
Family will gather for a celebration of her life at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Rand-Wilson Funeral Home of Hanover, NH.
