Obituary

Dylan Patrick O'Hearndied on July 30, 2016, surrounded by his family, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, NH.

Dylan was born at home in West Fairlee, VT on 3/31/04. He spent his early years living and playing with his parents and older sister and enjoying the grounds of Treasure Island, where he lived on Lake Fairlee.

Dylan attended Westshire Elementary School and, later, Samuel Morey Elementary School. He absolutely loved his time at school, developing extraordinarily special connections to classmates, friends, teachers and ideas. Dylan was a member of the West Fairlee Paws and Hooves 4-H Animal Club, showing his pet ducks at Tunbridge Fair. Dylan's interests and passions were various, including: friendships and socializing, music, math, football, the Seattle Seahawks, reading and writing, drawing and cartooning, Magic-The Gathering card games, swimming and tubing at Lake Fairlee, Buddhism, playing the electric bass, visiting the ocean, eating Thai food, camping, traveling and having novel experiences.

Dylan will be universally remembered for his kindness, thoughtfulness, helpfulness, generosity, and amazing leadership. He was physical, smart, funny, sensitive and gregarious. He was 100% engaged in living each day to the fullest.

Dylan is survived by his parents, Ann and Scott O'Hearn, and his two sisters, Rachel and Lindsey O'Hearn. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Darlene Van Drisse, of Pardeeville, WI, paternal aunt, Theresa O'Hearn, of Highlands Ranch, CO, aunt Erin O'Hearn of Boston, MA, uncle Sean O'Hearn of San Francisco, CA, uncle Shannon O'Hearn of Bisbee, AZ, uncle Todd O'Hearn of Newbury Park, CA, uncle Ryan O'Hearn of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and maternal aunt Louise Scott, of Milwaukee, WI, uncle Steve Van Drisse of Milwaukee, WI and uncle Dave Van Drisse of DePere, WI. Dylan was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Alice and Robert O'Hearn, of Alstead, NH and paternal grandfather, Sherman Van Drisse, of Pardeeville, WI.

Calling Hours will be held at the Rand-Wilson Funeral Home, Hanover, NH, on Friday, 8/5 from 12-2 PM and from 6-8 PM. Dylan's funeral service will be held on Saturday, 8/6 at 1 PM at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Upper Valley, Rte. 5 South in Norwich, VT. Family members will bury Dylan in West Fairlee at the Middlebrook Cemetery later on Saturday afternoon.

Contributions in his memory may be made to the Sudden Arrythmia Death Foundation.
