E. Clare Mahler89, died peacefully on Wednesday, May 8, 2013.

Clare was born in Boppard, Germany in 1923. At the age of 16, her parents sent her to safety in England to escape the Nazi regime. Clare married Benjamin B. Mahler in 1952. They lived in New Jersey where they raised three daughters. At the same time she worked translating children's books. In 1969, Clare and her family moved to Massachusetts where she worked as a Comptroller for Balston, Inc. until her retirement. Clare moved to Kendal in 2005 to be close to her family in Hanover.

Clare will be missed by all who knew her, and especially by her family. She loved her family deeply and took pride in the achievements of her children and grandchildren. She was especially close to her family in Hanover and proudly attended all of her grandchildren's musicals, choral and band concerts throughout their school years. Clare also looked forward to frequent trips to Israel to visit with her two daughters and six grandchildren living there.
