Edward L. Smith84, of Ascutney, VT passed away on Thursday, April 4th after a brief illness. Born and raised in Meriden CT, he was son of Edward G Smith and Madeleine LeFort Smith.
He served 4 years in the US Navy and worked as a tool and dye designer at Winchester Electronics in CT until his retirement in 1996 in which time he moved to Vermont.
Ed loved spending time with his family, backyard barbeques, fine dining and the opera, he also loved hiking the Green Mountains and chasing his favorite fish the native brook trout. Ed was an avid skier, fisherman, hunter, golfer and artist. He was a member of the American Legion.
Ed leaves behind his wife Roxanne Smith of Ascutney, VT; 2 sons: Edward, Jr. of Connecticut and Paul Smith of Plainfield, NH; 2 daughters: Margaret Leighton of Connecticut and Terry Smith of Cornish, NH; 2 step-daughters: Tama Chabot of Hartland, VT, Suzanne Thompson of Springfield, VT, 6 grandchildren, 3 step- grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and 4 step-great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind 2 sisters Barbara Dalton and Carole Schaedler of CT and several nieces and nephews.
A service will be held for immediate family.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to your favorite charity.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Rand-Wilson Funeral Home.
