Obituary

Elizabeth Crory82, passed away quietly with family at her home on Rip Road on Sunday, February 1, 2015. She was born the second of five children to James Quail Lupien & Mary Lupien in Gardner, MA on September 12, 1932.

Elizabeth graduated from Gardner High and the University of Massachusetts before marrying Fred Crory and raising six children on Rip Road in Hanover"€"after three years in Alaska. Elizabeth earned a masters degree in the Arts & Liberal Sciences from Dartmouth College. She represented the Upper Valley in the NH Legislature for 14 years; was Executive Director of the Children's Center of the Upper Valley; appointed by Governor Shaheen as Chair of the Health & Human Services Committee; the first layperson selected by the NH Supreme Court to the NH Bar's Board on Character & Fitness; in addition to her service on numerous other boards, civic organizations and community initiatives.

A lifelong Democrat, avid walker, voracious reader, lover of the arts, philanthropist and loyal fan of the Red Sox and Hanover High Marauders, Elizabeth loved to garden, play cribbage with family and was well versed on a range of topics.

She is survived by brothers John Lupien, of Rome, Italy, and James Lupien, of Gardner, MA; sons Tom, of Enfield (w. Sandy), and Dave, of Eugene, OR; daughters Ellen Forkas (h. Chris), of Myrtle Beach, SC; and Ann Thompson (h. Ted), of Hanover; sons Edward (w. Sabine), of Tutsing, GER; and Stephen of Park City, UT; grandsons Quinten (w. Amy), Tyler and Thomas James "TJ"; and granddaughters, Christine, Alison and Kimberly.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Fred Crory, parents James Quail and Mary "Mayzie" Lupien, sister Mary Ellen LaPierre and brother Francais Lupien.

Elizabeth was a committed advocate for fairness, the underserved, healthcare, education and life long learning, volunteerism, community nursing and more. She lived a full life and died in peace, a good friend to many. Teacher, legislator, volunteer and successful businesswoman, Elizabeth would have been happy to be remembered simply as a caring and committed citizen.

Visiting hours will be on Friday, February 6 from 5:30-7:30 at the Rand-Wilson funeral home in Hanover. A funeral mass is planned at St. Denis Church in Hanover on Saturday, February 7 at 11 a.m. A reception will follow at Jesse's Steak, Seafood & Tavern in Hanover.

In lieu of flowers, it was Elizabeth's desire that any memorial gifts be made in the form of a donation to The Haven"€"an organization whose work and leadership she deeply respected. The Haven: 713 Hartford Ave, White River Junction, VT 05001.
