Obituary

Elizabeth Mary (Monica) Mason90, a resident of Enfield and formally of Hanover, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at the Genesis Health Care Center.

She was born to Ruth and Fredrick Monica on October 16, 1922 at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital in Hanover, NH. She attended schools in Hanover and graduated from Hanover High School in 1940. Betty lettered in Field Hockey and Basketball and was later inducted into the Hanover High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Betty also had a perfect attendance record in grades 1 thru 12. During the early years, Betty worked as a switchboard operator in Hanover for Bell Telephones. She had fond memories of her supervisors Mary and Barbara Sullivan.

She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Harold Monica and a son Gordon Michael. Survivors include her husband of 70 years Charles F. Mason of Enfield; two sons, Kenneth C. Mason and his wife Susan of Lyndonville VT, and Charles F. Mason and his wife Kathleen of Lakeville, MA, two daughters, Judith Cote and her partner Cecile Menard of Croydon, NH, and Teresa Elizabeth McKeever and her husband Richard of Buxton, Maine. She has five Grandchildren, James Joseph Cote and his wife Stacy of Manchester, NH, Kenneth C. Mason and his wife Carol of Lyndonville, VT, Kevin B. Mason and his wife Susan T. of Killeen, Texas, Jonathan Joseph McKeever of Bangor, Maine and Kathryn Elizabeth McKeever of Buxton, Maine. She also has two Great-grandchildren Elizabeth S. Mason and Isabelle L. Cote.

Betty lived her life to the fullest. She had a deep love for her family, especially for her husband, who she honored as a soldier's wife. Betty developed a love for sports by attending Dartmouth Hockey and Baseball games with her grandmother Mary Trachier and that passion was handed down to her children and grandchildren. She rarely missed any of their games and activities. Betty's other passions included the New York Yankees, Dallas Cowboys, Montreal Canadian and a good game of cribbage.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the Genesis Health Care Center for their outstanding three years of service and care. She was treated as if she was one of their own.

Rand-Wilson Funeral Home in Hanover, NH is entrusted with the arrangements. Calling hours will be on Friday, October 11, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint Denis Catholic Church in Hanover on Saturday, October 12 at 11:00 AM.
