Obituary

Gloria DiDomenicopassed peacefully surrounded by love and caring at her residence at Kensington Place, Redwood City, CA.

Born and raised in Audubon, NJ, Gloria graduated with honors from Audubon High School in 1940. She began her career in the legal profession as an executive legal secretary and then pursued a career in business as executive assistant at RCA which was later acquired by General Electric.

Gloria worked tirelessly to raise her beloved daughter Karen, providing endless love, support, and encouragement for her to pursue all her dreams and ambitions. Their relationship was always exceptionally close and Gloria was so proud of everything her daughter accomplished.

Karen attended Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH which was the idyllic location where Gloria chose to move upon her retirement from RCA in 1985. Gloria loved living in Hanover, the quaint New England town she had discovered during her visits to Karen in college. She moved to San Francisco, CA in 1992 to be near her daughter who had moved there after graduating from business school and Gloria discovered the place she loved to call her home. Gloria lived in the North Beach neighborhood of the city and treasured Fisherman's Wharf, the sea lions, the beautiful scenery and vibrancy all around her every day. Her favorite annual events were the Christmas tree lighting on Pier 39 and the exciting Blue Angels air show above the bay during Fleet Week. She was thrilled to actually meet the pilots in person before their performance just a few years ago.

Gloria loved deeply and is deeply loved. She had a charming sense of humor, loved watching golf and listening to country music, and she always made Christmas special. She is missed every day.

Gloria is survived by her only daughter Karen Francis DeGolia and son-in-law Rick DeGolia of Atherton, CA as well as sisters Florence Sleeper, Nora Bailey, Rosella Carson, Cecelia Morrison and her husband Gary Morrison who all live in Southern New Jersey. She was predeceased by her sisters Victoria McKinney, Anita Conroy and her brother John DiDomenico.

Burial services were held in August at Pine Knolls Cemetery near Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH.

Donations can be made in her memory to the Dartmouth College Fund, Gift Recording Office, A17WM, 6066 Development Office, Hanover, NH 03755 (t: 603-646-3621). As a member of the Dartmouth's Centennial Circle of alumnae, her daughter Karen honors her mother's legacy by supporting financial aid every year for young women pursuing their aspirations as she did at Dartmouth College.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Rand-Wilson Funeral Home of Hanover, NH.
