Jamie Alyssa
Fletcher (Hafford)
January 21, 1987 – August 5, 2025
Jamie passed away at DHMC on Tuesday August 5th, 2025 after a brief, yet devastating, battle with heart failure.
Jamie was born in Fort Kent, Maine on January 21, 1987, and spent her early years in the close-knit town of St. Francis—a place she always carried in her heart as "home." The Upper Valley became her forever home when Jamie moved with her family to Vermont in the 6th grade. She went on to graduate from Rivendell Academy in 2005.
Jamie married Scott Fletcher in 2007 and took his two kids, Sky Fletcher and Evan Fletcher, under her wing becoming a mother figure to them. In 2009 they welcomed Jamie's proudest accomplishment — Ava. Ava wasn't just Jamie's daughter; she was her ride-or-die, her best friend, her everything.
Jamie was the proud owner of Ava's in White River Junction, VT, a family-run candy store and ice cream shop that she later added a cozy tea room to. Though she made the difficult decision to close the shop earlier this year due to medical issues, the business reflected Jamie's boundless ambition and her commitment to supporting the local community.
Jamie also loved journaling and writing, spending time with her French bulldog- Olive, going on side quests, and chasing her dreams. Jamie was also a well loved bartender at The Filling Station. Between The Filling Station and Ava's, Jamie was a familiar and cherished face on Gate Street.
Jamie was one of the most authentic people anyone could have the pleasure of meeting. She was chaos and charm in equal measure — cussing like a sailor, laughing like a queen, and living life like it was a game she'd already won. Her intoxicating energy and quick wit was impossible to ignore; she would pull you in and leave you wanting more. She'd hustle you out of your money and make you love her for it. "Family discount?" We don't know her. She was magnetic enough to be the center of every room, every story, and every memory. Jamie was proud to be "one of them Hafford girls"- unfiltered, unforgettable, and impossible not to love. If you did her the disservice of underestimating her, you would not make that same mistake again.
People like Jamie don't come around often, she truly was one of the good ones. She was unapologetically Jamie and everyone loved her for it. She was an integral piece of the Downtown White River Junction community and will be missed by many. Her absence is nearly as loud as her presence.
Jamie is survived by her daughter Ava Fletcher of WRJ, VT, her parents Trish Boncek of Quechee, VT, Jim Hafford of West Fairlee, VT, her sister Shaunna Hafford and her nephews Cylan Berry, Tukker Hardy, and Noah Hardy all of Windsor, VT; paternal grandmother Theresa Hafford of St Francis ME; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and fans. She is predeceased by her beloved baby brother Luke Hafford, maternal grandparents Elizabeth and Thomas Boncek, and paternal grandfather Frederick Hafford.
A celebration of Jamie's life will be open to the public on Saturday November 1st at 12:00 p.m. at The Cornerstone Community Center.
