John P. Woodof Venice, Florida, died February 20, 2016. He was born December 18, 1926 in New York, NY and raised in Hanover, NH where Mr. Wood became an Eagle Scout at age 16. He graduated from Hanover High School in 1944 and graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1948.
He enlisted in the Army and served; afterwards he became an Agent of the U.S. Narcotics Bureau in Colorado. Mr. Wood left the bureau and worked for Crown-Zellerbach Company, a large paper manufacturer as a sales representative for 35 years in Washington and Massachusetts.
After retiring he moved to Venice, FL and volunteered with several community programs.
He leaves his wife, June F. Wood of Venice, Florida, his son, George Wood of Anchorage, AK, daughter, Leslie Lewis (husband, Brian) of Hoffman Estates, IL, step-daughter, Mary Davidson Graham (husband, James) of Quechee, VT, step-daughter, Jerelyn Wilson (husband, Alex) of Dummerston, VT and step-son, Clif Everett (wife, Kat) of Glen Burnie, MD and grandchildren, Michael, Christopher, Brian, Rachael Wood, Ben and John Lewis, and 4-legged companion, Pete.
A private burial will take place in August at the Pine Knoll Cemetery in Hanover, NH.
Local arrangements are under the direction of the Rand-Wilson Funeral Home of Hanover, NH.
