Obituary

Kenneth C. Cramerdied on August 11, 2012 in Lebanon, NH at age 84. He was a long-time resident of Lebanon, NH and he most recently resided at Harvest Hill. Ken came to work at Dartmouth College in 1955 as a reference librarian. He left briefly to work at West Point as a librarian, and then returned to Dartmouth. From 1961, until his retirement in 1993, he was the College Archivist and instrumental in bringing an institution wide records management system to the College.

He was born in Morristown, New Jersey and graduated from Morristown High School in 1945, and then attended Blair Academy in Blairstown, NJ. He served in the Navy from 1946 to 1948. He attended and graduated from Gettysburg College and obtained a post graduate degree from Western Reserve University (now Case Western Reserve University) in Cleveland Ohio.

His encyclopedic knowledge of Dartmouth College and Town of Hanover history is legendary. In 2011, working with the Hanover Historical Society and the Dartmouth College Library, he curated an exhibition in Baker Library celebrating the 250th anniversary of the chartering of Hanover.

He is survived by several cousins and numerous friends. He is predeceased by his parents, his sister, Jean Williams, and her two children, Chrissy and Granville.

There will be a private grave-side ceremony at the Hilltop Cemetery in Mendham, New Jersey at a later date.

Donations in his memory may be made to Mendham Township Historical Society, Mendham, New Jersey; the Morris Plains Museum, Morris Plains, New Jersey; or, Hanover Historical Society in Hanover, New Hampshire.
