Obituary

Kimberly Peters Wilsonpassed away peacefully on Thursday, May 16, 2019 after a lengthy illness.

She was born Kimberly Ann Peters on October 14, 1964 at Westover Air Force Base in Springfield, Massachusetts. As an Air Force family supporting her pilot father, Kimberly and her parents and sister lived in 13 states by the time Kim was in high school. Her favorite place was Hickam Air Force Base in Honolulu, where Kim and her sister Kathy spent their time bicycling from O-Club pool to O-Club pool around base, and doing their best not to do anything that would embarrass their officer dad.

After leaving Hawaii, Kim and her family settled in Oklahoma City where she spent her high school years. From there, she went to college at Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas, graduating with a B.S. in Nursing in 1988. She worked as an R.N. at several hospitals including Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, where she served on the Cardiothoracic Step-Down Unit, and Stanford University Medical Center in California, where she worked on a combined Plastics / Urology / ENT surgical floor. She was a steady presence in providing highly competent care to patients in difficult circumstances, and well appreciated wherever she served.

After the birth of her first child, Kim focused on being the best mom and homemaker she could be. Her children Daniel and Rebecca were born in Mountain View, California and brought home to a little house in Sunnyvale. Rachel was born in the Upper Valley after the family moved to Hanover, NH. Kim was well known as a volunteer and "classroom mom" for the years that her children attended the Ray School in Hanover. She also served as a trustee of the Etna Library, was a member of P.E.O., and an active member of the First Baptist Church of Hanover in Etna.

Kim loved the winter snow and enjoyed snowshoeing through the woods behind her home on Blueberry Hill. She was also fond of visiting the Upper Valley's outdoor delights, including raspberry, blueberry and apple picking, which resulted in lots of excellent baked goods and preserves at the Wilson household.

Kim was always concerned for the circumstances of those under duress, whether physical or psychological, and did her best to quietly provide comfort, assurance and aid. She never sought recognition for any of her actions, preferring the simple satisfaction of knowing that someone's difficult situation had been eased in some small way.

She was predeceased by her grandparents, Allen and Benolah Shipley, and Jasper and Alta Peters, all of Louisville, KY, and by her father, Lt. Col. Charles Ray Peters of Mustang, OK. She is survived by her mother, Georgiana Peters and her sister Katherine Ann Peters Clark and husband Jeff of Oklahoma City. She leaves her husband of 25 years John Wilson, and her children Daniel, Rebecca and Rachel, all of Hanover, NH; brothers- and sisters-in-law Haile and Janet Wilson of Essex Junction, VT and Tom and Helen Wilson of Brightwaters, NY, and nine nieces and nephews.

Kim was a quiet positive influence on all who knew her. She had few enemies – only those who attempted to exploit the weak – and an abundant multitude of friends, all of whom she cherished, and who brought great joy to her life.

A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Hanover in Etna at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 26, 2019. Memorial contributions may be made to the P.E.O. Foundation.

"A wife of noble character who can find? For her worth is far above rubies." Aloha 'oe, until we meet again.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Rand-Wilson Funeral Home of Hanover, NH.
