Obituary

Larch Millerof Wilder VT, passed away on 29 August 2019, just two weeks shy of her 89th birthday. She grew up in Sagamore MA and Melrose MA, and attended Bates College, after which she taught for several years at the North Bennet Street Industrial School in the North End of Boston, and was active in the Society of Friends (Quakers). After raising her three children in Cambridge MA, Larch moved to New York City in 1983, where she worked as a wardrobe supervisor on Broadway – including "La Cage Aux Folles" and "Gypsy" – and, for seven years, at the New York City Ballet, before retiring in 2001 and moving to Wilder. She was a regular volunteer at The Haven, answering the phone every Friday morning. She loved to make things, especially out of yarn or fabric, and had a regular stand at the Norwich Farmers Market, at which she sold her signature knitted ("Vermont Inca-style") hats and blue-jeans hand-bags, along with wool socks, mittens, sweaters, and other items.

She is survived by her three children Eric, Peggy, and Peter, her four grandchildren Alejandra, Nicholas, Benjamin, and Matthew, and her two great-grandchildren Isabella and Olivia. Memorial services are planned for later in the fall. (In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to The Upper Valley Haven.)

Arrangements are under the direction of the Rand-Wilson Funeral Home of Hanover, NH.
