Laurence Gillen84, died Sunday, September 30, 2012 at the Springfield Health & Rehabilitation Center in Springfield, VT. He was born March 24, 1928 in Hanover, NH the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Gillen. He graduated from Hanover High School then married the love of his life, Etta Irene LaHaye.
A lifetime resident of the Upper Valley, he was a truck driver for St. Johnsbury Trucking Company until his retirement.
He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 2571 and a past member of Post 26, The American Legion of White River Jct., VT.
Mr. Gillen was an avid sports fan of baseball, basketball, football and hockey. He also loved camping.
He is survived by his son, Dana Andrew Gillen of Burlington, VT; two brothers, Edward Gillen of Lebanon, NH and Gerald Gillen of Montana. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife Etta Irene Gillen; four sons, Robert James Gillen, Laurence Gillen Jr., David Bruce Gillen, Dean Paul Gillen and his brother, Frederick Gillen.
There will be no calling hours and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
