Obituary

Lee Hurddied Thursday, June 1, 2023, at Kendal at Hanover in Hanover, NH.

Lee was born in Saratoga Springs, NY, and grew up in Ashland, Ohio. He graduated with Honors, from Harvard College in 1955 and served in the US Army Signal Corps from 1955-1957.

Lee married Janet Christie in 1957 and graduated from the Harvard Business School in 1959.

Lee and Janet started their family in Keene, NH where Lee joined Miniature Precision Bearings Corporation.

In 1966 Lee moved to Split Ball Bearing in Lebanon, NH, where he headed the Information Technology department for 23 years. He and Janet raised their daughters in Hanover, NH, where Lee served several terms as Hanover School District moderator.

The opportunity to work with Professional Systems Corporation on contracts with IBM took Janet and Lee to Williston, VT. He subsequently developed IT programs for GW Plastics in Bethel, VT.

Following retirement, Lee joined a weekly group building houses for Habitat for Humanity, making new friends, learning new skills, and helping neighbors.

Lee and Janet moved to Kendal at Hanover where Lee served a term as chair of the Facilities Liaison Committee.

Lee was an active church member throughout his life. He served various boards at the Church of Christ at Dartmouth College, as well as a term as President of the Board of Elders. He was a choir member of Burlington's First Congregational Church and worked on various special church projects.

Lee is survived by his wife, Janet and daughters Carol Kindle, her husband Steve of Parkville, MO and Virginia Kiesewetter, her husband George, son-in-law James Aram, and grandchildren Laura, Thomas, James, and Mark. He was predeceased by his daughter Mary.

A memorial service will be held at the Church of Christ at Dartmouth College, 40 College Street, Hanover, NH, at 10:00 am, Saturday, June 17, 2023.

Friends may greet the family at a reception following the service.
