Obituary

Leon Almon Valia78, died Monday, February 14, 2011 at Genesis Health Care Center in Lebanon. He was born May 6, 1932 in Grafton, NH, the only son of the late Leon G. Valia and Winnie B. Morse.

Mr. Valia grew up in Grafton. He later served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged as a staff sergeant. He worked driving log trucks and later was an auto shop mechanic at Smith Auto Sales and shop foreman at Lester Chevrolet, both in Lebanon, NH. He also served many years as selectman for the Town of Orange, as well as helping maintain the town roads. He later enjoyed several years of retirement in Plant City, Florida with his loving wife.

He was predeceased by his wife, Frances A. Valia in 2003, his parents, and two sisters, Althea and Elaine. Survivors include a daughter, Jane Valia of Lebanon, NH, a son, Leon K. Valia of Canaan, NH and sister June Burrington of Grafton, NH; also 7 grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

A small family ceremony will be held in the spring.
