Obituary

Lisa Ann Gross35, of West Lebanon, NH, passed away on March 16, despite valiant efforts to try to revive her after she suddenly stopped breathing. She was born at Mary Hitchcock Hospital in Hanover, NH on July 5, 1982. Although she was born with serious medical problems, she tried her very best to make the most of each and every day.

Lisa was a truly amazing lady who spread sunshine to everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her. For 23 years, her nurses, Colleen Harding and Theresa Paterson, have been a daily part of her remarkable life - helping her to live life to the fullest. A kind, caring, loving daughter and sister, Lisa is survived by her brothers, Kevin and Jason, and her mother, Bobbi Gross. Her father, Dr. Robert Gross, a professor at Dartmouth College for over 35 years, passed away in 2014.

Lisa loved working at the Encore Bookstore, and volunteering at the Lebanon Senior Center for many years. She also enjoyed volunteering in the gift shop at the Montshire Museum when she was in high school. More recently, she very much enjoyed participating in many activities with friends at the Spark! Community Center in Lebanon.

Lisa had many interests, but she especially enjoyed riding horses through the High Horses program, and being a member of a youth league-bowling team (from elementary through high school).

In 1999, upon completing junior high school, Lisa was awarded the "Sarah Lynn Courage Award" … given to the student who best exhibits Sarah's strengths: the courage to endure, the ability to laugh against all odds, sportsmanship, and a willingness to try new adventures. In 2003, upon graduating from high school, Lisa was awarded the "James Schwedland Award" (selected by the Lebanon High School faculty, and awarded for exceptional courage and determination).

Also in 2003, Lisa did something truly extraordinary… Despite her complicated medical issues, Lisa had the strong will and determination to have achieved "Perfect Attendance" at school for SIX straight years – through all of high school -plus- her last two years at the junior high. She was an amazing woman! Lisa is missed so much, but we remember her kindness, her caring, and her determination with love and joy.

Several of Lisa's tissues were donated, so Lisa is giving the gift of life to other people. Even now she continues to spread sunshine.

"A Celebration of Lisa's Life" will be held on Thursday, March 29th, at 1:30 pm at the Fireside Inn in West Lebanon.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Spark! Community Center (75 Bank St, Suite L-08, Lebanon, NH 03766) … Welcoming community members of all abilities.
