Lucille Barkdull Browningdied at the age of 96 on December 15th at her home in Lebanon NH. She was born in American Falls Idaho on October 4th 1925. She was the daughter of Vera W. Barkdull and W. Eugene Barkdull of American Falls ID.
Receiving her undergraduate degree at the University of Utah, she continued her education at Stanford University where she earned a Masters of Arts in 1949. She met her husband James A. Browning while they were graduate students at Stanford and married in Palo Alto in 1949. The couple moved to Hanover NH where he worked as a professor at Thayer School at Dartmouth.
Her lifelong interest in Fiber Arts included textile weaving, rug weaving, tapestry and clothing design. She was active in the 1960s with the New Hampshire League of Arts and Crafts. Later in the 1990s she started using knitting machines to produce knitware on a limited commercial basis. She got great joy from her knitting group in her later years.
She provided a wonderful environment for her family raising her three children. She instilled an interest in crafts in her children and her two grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband James in 2018. She is survived by sons William A. and James H. and daughter Joel B. Browning all of Lebanon, NH.
