Obituary

Mary Ellen LaBombard89, passed away on January 17, 2016 at Harvest Hill in Lebanon, New Hampshire, her home for the past 13 years.

Mary was born April 23, 1926 in Wilder, Vermont, the daughter of Joseph and Stephania Megeaska. She was named Anna Jennie at birth and was later baptized as Mary Ellen. Along with her sister and three brothers, Mary grew up on her family's farm in Etna, New Hampshire. The farm is now the home of the Dartmouth Riding Center. She was a Hanover High School graduate of 1944.

Mary married Kermit Jesse LaBombard in 1946 and they enjoyed 52 years of marriage until his death in 1998. Together they raised three children. Mary is the last of her generation of a wide circle of family and friends who lived, loved, and laughed on Greensboro Road in Hanover.

When her children were young, Mary worked as a switchboard operator in the Hanover office of New England Telephone. In later years she worked as a bookkeeper for Smith, Batchelder and Rugg and Purcell Oil before turning her attention to her two sons' businesses, Vermont Salvage and Great Northern Barns. For many years Mary and Kermit were the Saturday morning faces of Vermont Salvage. They also started one of the Upper Valley's first cat boarding businesses at their home on Greensboro Road. Mary continued helping her sons with their businesses' bookkeeping until 2014.

During her early years at Harvest Hill Mary served various terms as Secretary and Treasurer of the Harvest Hill Residences' Association. As Treasurer, she was very meticulous and made sure the accounts were always accurate. Outdoors, Mary loved to garden, and she and the residents would enjoy the flowers and plants she nurtured.

Mary is survived by her children, Sharon and husband Noel Everts, Ernest LaBombard and wife Priscilla Geoghegan, and Jesse LaBombard and wife Lynne; her seven grandchildren: Stan Everts, Aaren Dow, Anna Mazur, Adrienne LaBombard, Mary Lynne LaBombard, Nicole LaBombard, and Joseph LaBombard; her three great-grandchildren Xyvan, Amina and Lillainia, and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express special thanks to the staff at Harvest Hill who were so caring and compassionate to Mary.

A family service will be held in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made to Headrest at 14 Church Street in Lebanon, NH 03766 - the one social agency to which Mary continued to contribute each year.

Rand Wilson Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
