Miriam Evelyn (Good) Troisiour beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, age 91, of West Lebanon, NH, died peacefully in the early morning of Tuesday, November 11, 2014, after a brief illness. Miriam is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Nicholas Francis Troisi, Sr.; sister Janet Good Shaw of Elyria, OH; children Catherine Lynne Troisi and husband Richard Stoll of Houston, TX; Nicholas Francis Troisi, Jr. and wife Marcie of Winchester, MA; James Henry Troisi and wife Brenda of Lake Oswego, OR; and Rebecca Jeanne Troisi of Hanover, NH; grandchildren Gregory Stoll and husband David Jedlicka; Jessica Stoll and husband Lukas Pfaff; and Carolyn Stoll and husband Chris Salgado; Melissa and Emma Troisi; Hannah and Seth Troisi; and Ethan and Chloe Rogers; and great-granddaughter Alice Pfaff.
Miriam was born in Waynesboro, PA, received her bachelor's degree from Westchester State College, PA and a master's degree in education from the University of Pennsylvania. She taught school in New Orleans, LA at the Newman School and in Geneseo, NY. In Plattsburgh, NY where she moved with her husband Nick in 1955, she attended the First Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon and sang in the choir. Miriam served as chair of the Plattsburgh Planning Board for many years in addition to participating in a number of other educational and charitable activities.
She and Nick moved to W. Lebanon, NH in 2005 where she attended the United Church of Christ at Dartmouth College. She was an avid reader of mysteries and many other genres, closely followed political issues, and was an enthusiastic gardener and gourmet cook. Music was very important in her life and she sang with the Bach Study Group in Hanover. Miriam loved travel and volunteered as a teacher with her husband in Thailand, South Africa, and Tunisia. Miriam delighted in her family and made long-lasting relationships all over the world.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at 1 pm at United Church of Christ at Dartmouth College (UCC at DC), 40 College Street, Hanover, NH. A private burial will take place in Plattsburgh, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the UCC at DC (to benefit Church World Service; www.ccdcucc.org) or the Kilton Public Library, 80 Main St. W. Lebanon, NH 03784 (www.leblibrary.com).
Arrangements are under the direction of the Rand-Wilson Funeral Home of Hanover, NH.
