Robert "Bob"
Frisch
February 22, 1951 – March 12, 2025
Robert Carl Frisch, 74, known to many as Bob, passed away unexpectedly on the afternoon of March 12 in Hanover, NH. Born February 22, 1951, in Brooklyn, NY, Bob was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and uncle and lived a life marked by intelligence, integrity, generosity, and an unwavering love for his family and community.
After graduating from New England College, Bob began his career in radio at WGIR in Manchester, NH, eventually owning and operating several stations in the Upper Valley, including KIXX 100.5 FM. A passionate advocate for local causes, he championed countless local events from CHAD's KIXX Kids Trade Show to supporting troops from the Upper Valley stationed overseas. One of his proudest achievements was launching the annual Giving Trees for David's House, which grew from raising $4,000 in its first year to over $100,000 in its final year under Bob's leadership. He was a familiar sight driving throughout the Upper Valley handing out bumper stickers, t-shirts, and spreading his infectious enthusiasm.
Bob and his wife/business partner, Cheryl Ann Frisch, sold the stations in 2001, but soon after founded Mountain View Publishing, acquiring Here in Hanover, Woodstock Magazine, and Image Magazine. Bob once again thrived, dedicating himself to showcasing the people and businesses of the region he loved so deeply.
Bob's professional success was rivaled only by his devotion to family. Bob met Cheryl while he was working at WGIR, and they married in 1978. For 46 years, Cheryl was his true partner in life and business—the pair was, by Bob's own words, "an unbeatable team."
Together, they raised two children, Ryan Robert Frisch (wife Calyn) and Erin Elizabeth Newton (husband Peter). Bob was a proud and dedicated father, attending every game, concert, and event possible.
As a grandfather, "Poppy" cherished time spent with his grandchildren Robert (Bobby), Josephine (Effie), and Lovell. Whether playing games, sharing stories, or simply lighting up a room with his arrival, Bob's bond with his grandchildren was one of his greatest joys.
Bob maintained a close relationship with his brother Michael Frisch (wife Judy), sister- and brother-in-law Robin and John Gales, and was a loving and dedicated uncle to Teddy and Lucas Gales, Craig Frisch (wife Jody) and Evan Frisch (wife Jennifer), and their families.
In his free time, Bob was active and adventurous. He loved skiing and discovered a passion for golf later in life, enjoying every moment on the course. He was also an avid Peloton rider, completing over 5,000 rides with friends and family since 2017!
Bob's warmth, humor, and ability to make lasting friendships defined him. He believed deeply in the power of community and lived his life giving back to it.
A celebration of Bob's life will be held on April 12 at the Hanover Inn in Hanover, NH, with a short service beginning at 11:00 AM, followed by lunch and the sharing of stories in true Bob fashion. All are welcome!
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to David's House or a local charity of your choice in his honor.
