Robert A. Harrisa resident of NH since 1981, passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 18th, 2012,at his home at Hanover Terrace, with his family at his side.
He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, January 1923, son to Randolf Harris and Clara Trout. He lead a full life - first attending University School for Boys in Shaker Heights, Ohio, and then on to Yale University, where he graduated 1945W due to his service as a lieutenant in the US Navy in the South Pacific during WWII.
In 1952 he married Virginia Van Vranken from New Jersey and they celebrated 60 happy years until she passed away in 2006. He had a career in banking which included the NY Guarantee Trust and Central National Bank in Cleveland. He was an avid golfer and a member of Mayfield Country Club.
He is survived by two daughters, Anne H. Ittu of Stevensville, Maryland, and Margaret Van Vranken Carter of Carolina Beach, North Carolina along with two granddaughters and 4 grandsons.
There will be no memorial gathering. Memorial contributions may be made by mail or online to The Alzheimer's Foundation of America 322 Eighth Ave, 7th floor, New York, NY 10001.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Rand-Wilson Funeral Home of Hanover, NH.
