Obituary

Ruth May (Emerson) Bacon86, passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at the Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, NH.

Ruth was born October 30, 1929 in Piermont, NH to Frank O. and Edith E. (Blanchard) Emerson, the second born of 13 children.

Leaving home at 14 years old, Ruth worked for Carlton and Beulah Gray, babysitting their four children, helping with the auctions, and even driving the cattle truck. Ruth was very proud of the fact that she could support herself at a young age.

After working various jobs, she met Carlton Bacon from Lyme, NH. They were married June 6, 1954 and raised three children on Creamery Lane where Ruth resided for 59 years.

Ruth loved animals and birds, particularly cardinals. Ruth and Carlton enjoyed feeding and watching the birds and shared their lives with many dogs over the years. She loved being a homemaker and was a wonderful cook, sharing the food she cooked, as well as her recipes, with friends and family. She was also the bookkeeper for her husband's electrical business.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Susan Ricker and husband, Roger of Post Mills, VT, Daryl Bacon of Warren NH, and Neil Bacon; four grandchildren, Brian Ricker and Justin Ricker of Post Mills, VT, Stephanie Ricker of Bradford, VT, and Mary Bacon of Wilder, VT; six sisters, Rosalie Aldrich of West Newbury, VT, Shirley Emerson, Gloria Williams, and Ruby Johnson of Bradford, VT, Martha Smith of Orford, NH, and Florence Welch of Newbury, VT; two brothers, Otis Emerson of Bradford, VT and Paul Emerson of Cumberland Furnace, TN; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Carlton who died in 2001, two sisters, Gale Gendron and Rebecca Eaton; two brothers, Warren and Robert; and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend thanks to Blue Spruce Home of the Retired in Bradford, VT and Grafton County Nursing Home in North Haverhill, NH for the care Ruth received.

A graveside service will be held next spring in the Highland Cemetery in Lyme, NH and an announcement of that service will be published at that time.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rand-Wilson Funeral Home of Hanover, NH.
