Ruth Flint Fitchet Meadage 89, died Monday, October 6, 2014 at Harvest Hill Retirement Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire.

The daughter of Roger Flint and Alice Lauterbach Flint of Newton Centre, Massachusetts, she was a nationally ranked junior pairs figure skater who represented The Skating Club of Boston.

A graduate of the Chapel Hill School in Waltham, Massachusetts and a member of the class of 1946 at Wellesley College, she married Duncan Maclellan Fitchet of Newton in 1945. During their 47 year marriage they lived in Great Neck, New York, Wellesley Hills, Massachusetts and Winnetka, Illinois before retiring to Etna, New Hampshire. She later married Edwin Chester Mead of Hanover, New Hampshire who predeceased her in 2010.

An intrepid traveler, gardener, animal lover and sports enthusiast, she was an active volunteer for several organizations during her lifetime.

She leaves behind her daughter Lynn Fitchet Filipski (Mark) of New York City; her grandchildren Russell Gates Filipski of New York City, Sarah Barnes Filipski of Winston-Salem, North Carolina and Margaret Maclellan Fitchet; and four nieces. Her son Duncan Maclellan Fitchet Jr. (Jane) of Etna, New Hampshire predeceased her in September 2014. Burial will be private.
