Suzanne Nye Talbot, 80, of Quail Hollow, West Lebanon, NH, passed away May 21st, 2024 after a brief stay at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative and Hospice Care, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Hospital in Hanover, NH. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she was surrounded by family during the last days and weeks of her life.
Suzanne was born September 21st, 1943 to Gerald and Florence Nye of South Barre, VT. After graduating from Spaulding High School in Barre, she attended Children's Hospital School of Nursing in Boston and later graduated Magna Cum Laude from Framingham State with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She worked as an Emergency Room nurse for over 40 years at Children's Hospital in Boston and Newton Wellesley Hospital close to her home in Newton, MA. Throughout her life she cherished spending each Summer at her "heart home" on the shores of Lake Memphremagog in Vale Perkins and Leadville, Quebec. It was there she met her husband Peter Talbot over 60 years ago.
All through the years, Suzanne volunteered her time with many organizations, including the Hanover Garden Club and the International Women's Book Club. Suzanne was a voracious reader. She always had stacks of books beside her bed. Not only did she belong to several book clubs, she organized a neighborhood club as well. Suzanne loved gardening, whether nurturing her home gardens, her cottage gardens at Lake Memphremagog, or the Garden Club. She loved nature and the outdoors, and saw beauty in each and every day...if it was raining she would call it "a clearing up shower!" She also enjoyed gathering with friends to test her Mahjong game strategies every week. As much as she loved being a lifetime learner, she really loved to teach. Suzanne had a wonderful, selfless way of teaching without others knowing it!
Suzanne is survived by her loving husband Peter Brewster Talbot of Quail Hollow, West Lebanon, NH, daughter Laura Talbot Noyes of Clinton, CT, daughter Heather Talbot Peterson of Crested Butte, CO, granddaughter Sarah Pratt Noyes of Avon, CO, son-in-law CAPT Wayne R. Buchanan, USCG ret., of Clinton, CT, and son-in-law Mark J. Peterson of Crested Butte, CO. Suzanne was pre-deceased by her brothers William Nye and Robert Nye of VT and grandson Joseph C. Noyes, V, "Quint" of Clinton, CT.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 15th at 11:00 am at her beloved St Thomas Episcopal Church, 9 W. Wheelock Street, Hanover, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St Thomas Episcopal Church or the Lebanon Public Libraries Foundation.
